How to Properly Define TutoringIn order to be able to properly define tutoring it is important to understand the role of this profession and what it actually does. People who have enrolled in a tutoring program are referred to as tutors and the role that they play is to be one of the main factors in achieving school successes. A Fraud and A Scam Do you Know The Difference
A Fraud and A Scam Do you Know The Difference I like it when my students ask me questions that make me think. Yesterday, was one of these occasions when a student asked me, right as class was about to end, the difference between the words fraud and scam.Do you know the difference? Letâs look at it now. What is a scam?A scam is a fraudulent scheme generally involving money and some sort of business transaction.Scams come in various forms. Maybe you have experienced someone telling you would win a prize if you revealed your credit card details or asking you to donate money to a charity that did not exist. Scams reach us in various ways, via telephone, email, or even in person.A person carried out a scam is called a scammer. What is fraud?Fraud implies a deception. It is a breach of confidence or trust.Fraud is a serious crime and a violation of civil law.The motivations for fraud can be many. These include monetary gain, discrediting an opponent or adversary. It can be to gain prestige as well as a financial advantage. If a partne r cheats on a husband or wife, he or she can be legitimately called a fraud by the other party if he/she was pretending to be faithful while committing the adultery.A person who is guilty of fraudulent activity is called a fraudster.Scams and fraud â" whatâs the difference?Fraud is a broader category of wrongdoing than a scam. Scams can belong to the broader category of fraud.A scam is generally a more minor offence that fraud which is considered very serious.QuestionsWhich of the following do you consider to be examples of a fraud and examples of a scam?Using medical services on another personâs medical card.Billing clients for 20% more than the actual amount of the goods they purchased. An email telling you that you won $5 million and all you have to do is send on your bank details.A politician who accepts cash for giving a construction company political favors. A pop-up on your computer telling you that you have been selected as regional manager for a company, but first you have you send on all your personal details.Did you find this blog helpful? Feel free to share it on Facebook and Twitter. A.Rahman Sheriff Thank you for sharing, I also was confused about scam and fraud.I want to try and answer the above questions. 1. A fraud 2. A fraud 3.

How to Get Along With Coworkers of Older Generations
How to Get Along With Coworkers of Older Generations Image via freestockphotos.biz However, getting along with older coworkers as a young person doesnât have to be a struggle. In fact, youâll probably find that you have more in common with them than you think. 1. Find universal subjects. You may find it difficult to find anything in common with your coworkers of older generations. However, it may just be that youâve forgotten how exactly to find things in common with someone. Now, when you meet someone young, itâs probably easy to talk about the latest hit on Netflix or the news updates on celebrities, but these topics donât always resonate with older crowds. Remember, commonality exists all around you. Perhaps a local team is doing really well in their sport or a new company has just moved to town. You could chat about new restaurants that are opening. If you get really desperate, you can always start off with the weather and work towards something else. Of course, talking is just the first step to improving your relationship with anyone which is essential to getting to know your coworkers. 2. Show them something new. They may be older than you, but donât let that convince you that you donât have a whole wealth of knowledge that they donât. If youâre kind about it, theyâll be happy to learn any new thing that you have to show them. If you overhear them talking about a computer problem, you might already know how to create an easy fix for it. Perhaps theyâre sick of their standard eating out routine and you could suggest a great new dining spot downtown that they havenât heard of yet. Being more connected as a young person gives you access to new products all the time. If you keep your eyes and ears open, you may just be able to find something that could work really well for them. 3. Ask them something. You have a wealth of knowledge that they donât, but bear in mind that they do too. Theyâve lived through stories equally interesting to your own. Donât be afraid to ask them questions about themselves, even really basic questions about where they grew up, where they went to school, their partner, their children, etc. If you show genuine interest in their life, theyâre going to feel much happier working with someone who cares about them and hasnât dismissed them as irrelevant. You may find some surprising similarities even. Maybe you grew up close to each other or went to the same vacation spot. This will create a whole slew of stories and facts to grow closer to one another as coworkers and maybe even as friends. 4. Keep an open mind. If youâre young, especially if youâre fresh out of college, youâre used to being around other young people with similar opinions to your own. Now, this doesnât mean you canât care deeply about those opinions, but you will have to recognize that the working world is full of people with opinions completely different than yours. The differences in opinions by no means make one right and the other wrong. You may have to learn to respectfully disagree with someone. A great thing to do is to simply ask questions about an opinion they have. Donât listen to judge and refute, listen to try and understand the other side. They may have a whole history that has led them to think this way. Learning about others different than you is a great tool to help you respect and work well with anyone, regardless of age and background. stocksnap.io 5. Be patient. All in all, donât expect to become fast friends overnight. People in older generations likely have a set group of family and friends that theyâve known and cared about for ages. Of course, this doesnât mean you canât be great coworkers. Just because they arenât dying to hang out all the time, doesnât mean they donât like you or appreciate the work you do. Relationships can be slow to grow and develop over time, but donât fret over becoming best friends with everyone. Take every opinion and personality with an attitude of respect and kindness and youâll be sure to get along great. As humans, we all crave some sort of connection. As coworkers, having great working connections is necessary to having a happy and successful professional life. With a proper outlook on building great relationships in the workplace, anyone can transcend boundaries of age.
Brazilian Gringo italki Challenge Update 1
Brazilian Gringo italki Challenge Update 1 Josh is taking the language challenge to learn Spanish. He posted about his experiences on his website Brazilian Gringo a blog that was born out of a need to share a more realistic perspective about Brazil, and our mission here is to share language and cultural insights to make Brazil more accessible for people to live, work and do business. Reposted with permission. Original post here. A few weeks ago I announced that I was participating in the iTalki challenge to improve my Spanish since I am going to be living in Chile for a while. I wanted to give a quick update on whatâs been happening since then both in regards to life and language learning. Shortly after making that announcement I got news that my grandfather was ill, so I flew back to the US to see him before he passed away. Fortunately I was able to go back and see him in the hospital one last time before he died. My father passed away a few years ago while I was in Brazil and the worst part about that experience was not being able to be near my family while they were all grieving. This time I didnât get to miss any of the fun of crying at the hospital. Iâve been in the US for about two weeks now, which though unexpected is kind of nice. Iâve been on the record as saying that I donât like living in the US, but itâs really not that bad since Iâm spending 90% of my time with my family. Though Iâll be glad to be out of here again in a few weeks, Iâll also be genuinely sad to leave this time. Coming back to the US disrupted my plans to learn Chilean Spanish a bit though. I was planning on taking 2-3 hours of classes a week for the 6 weeks of the challenge, and supplement that study time with interactions with Chileans in Santiago. Things were pretty hectic so I have only taken a few hours of classes so far, but now that Iâve got a routine here things will progress more smoothly. As far as the lessons go, Iâm really enjoying my teacher. He is a complete language nerd as well, and speaks something like 7 languages to varying degrees of fluency. He showed me this cool trick where he called his cousin and they spoke a hybrid language of English and Spanish where they would switch languages every few words. Being able to switch between languages like that is a pretty cool skill to have. Speaking both Spanish and Portuguese presents some challenges because of how similar the two languages are. Being able to go back and forth between the two takes a bit of work, though it is still easier for me to speak Portuguese. I can speak Spanish reasonably well, but I still havenât attached my identity to the Spanish language like I have with Portuguese. Iâm not sure on the science behind this, but in my head there are two distinct characters: Brazilian Josh and American Josh. They both have unique ways of thinking and speaking as well as their own mannerisms. I can switch between the American Josh and Brazilian Josh without much trouble because they are both strong characters in my mind, whereas Latino Josh still hasnât been developed. This means that sometimes Latino Josh will borrow parts of his identity from Brazilian or American Josh to fill in the blanks. I went to a Forró class this week and got to interact with Brazilians in person for the first time in a few weeks. Kind of in the same way how if you locked yourself in a room for a few days and didnât interact with anybody youâd be kind of slow in reacting to things people say, Brazilian Josh wasnât as spontaneous as he was when he was living in Brazil. My Portuguese came out ok, but my body language definitely has lost some of itâs Brazilianness since leaving Brazil. Overall the experience of learning Spanish on iTalki has been very productive and Iâve learned a lot not just about Chilean Spanish but language learning in general. Itâs not easy to find a good language teacher, but when you do the results can be magical. I just wanted to get this quick update out there, but later on Iâll publish some insights as they relate to Spanish and Portuguese. Rising Student Housing Costs What are the Options
Rising Student Housing Costs What are the Options Rising Student Housing Costs: What are the Options? Rising Student Housing Costs: What are the Options? In addition to the rising cost of tuition and college fees, student housing costs are also rising. This makes it even harder for students to make their way through four or five years of an undergraduate degree. Although some students will be able to pay part or all of their tuition through scholarships or student loans, they will still have to face rising costs of living. Additionally, students who donât qualify for financial aid or scholarships will be faced with these housing costs on top of their already expensive tuition. Students need to save every dollar possible so they can spend more time focusing on academics and less time on a part-time job for more college tips, contact one of our Orange County college consultants. 1. Off-campus housing Based on price per square foot, on-campus housing is some of the most expensive real estate in the country. Thats why more and more college students are turning to off-campus housing throughout their college career. Although students may have to share a two bedroom/one bath apartment with three other students, this will still be less crowded and offer more privacy than living in a dorm. Off-campus apartments can provide a dining and living area that will allow students to save money by making inexpensive meals at home and provide them with a quiet study area so they can complete important assignments. There are several private rental agencies, unaffiliated with universities, which provide low-cost living arrangements for full-time students. Although students will not receive amenities that non-student living would have (think gym and pool) they will have affordable living at the very least (READ: 8 Reasons Applicants Fail to Get Into the College of their Choice). 2. Work-study Students who only worked during the summer in past years are now starting work-study programs on campus to afford living expenses. Students who attend college in an expensive area may be forced to add 10 to 20 hours of work into their already full study schedule. This becomes a problem for students when their work commitments affect their ability to study. However, work-study programs on campus are often more flexible than off-campus employment opportunities and can provide students with time off during finals and other exams. 3. Cost of living in general Students who are still in high school are advised to think about the cost of living in the towns and cities surrounding the college campuses to which they are applying. For example, some universities will be located in areas where a student could have their own bedroom and bathroom for $350 a month base rent, plus their total cost of living fees (including food) to total around $600 a month. On the other hand, some areas of the country will offer off-campus student housing at a minimum of $1000 a month (before food and bills). Expenses in each region and state can vary greatly, but this is something that most 18-year-olds are not aware of. If housing costs will be an issue for a student (as it will be for most students) they should consider cost of living as a factor when it comes down to choosing which university they want to attend (READ: College Scholarships 101: Burgers and Donuts). Bottom Line Although some students will be able to pay for part of their tuition through scholarships or financial aid, the reality is the majority of students will be paying for tuition on their own. Either way, it doesnt help to add high student housing costs on top of already expensive tuition. Students who are looking at colleges should consider the cost of living, while students who are already attending college are encouraged to look for off-campus alternatives that may be less expensive in the long run. Students should be able to focus on their education and not have to worry too much about how theyre going to put a roof over their head. Heading to college in the summer?
